Who is a typical client?
It varies. Usually they are doing at least $1M/year, generally online (although I have worked with offline businesses such as call centers), and want to either drive more traffic or monetize their existing traffic more effectively.  As long as there are selling and lots of consumers involved, there's a good chance I can add value.
Why do you consult rather than doing it yourself?
I find working with different teams very energizing.  For lifestyle reasons I choose to live in the Caribbean, which is great, unfortunately the caliber of local employees is not as high as other countries.  I firmly believe that to manage a large scale project requires all critical team members to be in the same location.  So my current business model is to just work alongside internet leaders, leveraging their teams and helping grow their businesses.
Do you work on commission or as a broker?
No, I don’t accept commissions. I can certainly help make valuable introductions to people that can help grow your business like a broker would, I just don't do it on a commission model.
Can we do a JV with you?
No, I don’t do JV’s.

Confidentiality

Since people on the internet are often quite concerned about the confidentiality of their ideas, here is how I handle confidentiaility issues with clients.
  • I am happy to sign your NDA
  • I will never share specific websites, or show people your processes we develop together.
  • As you want me to bring my previous expereince and skills to working together, I will share general processes and concepts that I have found work with other clients.  Things I learn while working with you will add to my overall knowledge base, however no specifics will ever be shared.
  • The greater variety of clients and I ideas I have only benefits you more.  If we don’t figure out how to do these things first, one of your competitors will.
  • I will not copy your source code
  • I will not recruit your employees
  • I will not share your statistics

Most importantly, I can work with you to help figure out a long term strategic advantage for your business, so that someone can’t easily duplicate what you’re doing.See my book recommendation “Information Rules” for more on this topic. Bottom line:  this is a relationship business, and we have to work together from a standpoint of trust.  I don't like to work with a client once, I like ongoing projects that generate value for us both as trusted partners.  It's just good business.
